Recently, a company called GainRep has been sending emails to people in my email address list while pretending to be from me. No, I did not send any of these emails or subscribe to GainRep.
Feedback Request scam email from GainRep
GainRep sent emails like this to my contacts. Emails "requesting feedback" as if it originated from my email address. No, this email is not from me.
Endorsement scam email
GainRep also sent out emails asking for endorsement to my contacts. Nope, this email is also not from me.
What can I do if I have received similar emails from GainRep?
If you have got these kind of emails or other emails from GainRep asking you to recommend someone or accept recommendations, first of all, assume that it is a scam email.
Look at the sender email address and make sure it is from gainrep. It would probably end in @gainrepmail.com.
You can then block the sender, or mark it as spam or forward it to the junk folder, depending on the email provider you have.
For any reason, DO NOT click on the links in the email.
If you do click on any links in the email taking you to the GainRep website, DO NOT fill up any informaiton. Just close the browser window.
NOTE: Clicking on random links in emails is not advisable, and can be dangerous, depending on which website you have been led to.
