Many people were recently sharing this photo on social media. In this photo are supposedly two Walmart receipts from the same Walmart store in Sunset Bay, Florda, one from 2002 and the other from 2026. Both contain the same exact products. The price difference is huge, several times over.
Are these receipts real or fake?
Is this photo real?
Inflation is real. But, no, this is a fake photo. Here's why. Read on. 👇
Walmart receipts are made with thermal paper
Walmart receipts are made of thermal paper and the ink vanishes in a few months. Maybe a year at most if preserved very carefully under controlled atmospheric conditions.
2002 - 2026 is 24 years. It is a miracle if there is any ink left after 24 years.
There is no Walmart location at 2847 Palm Grove Road 🚫
There is no Walmart location at 2847 Palm Grove Road, Sunset Bay, FL 32987.
The store number is fake 🚫
The store number #4821 is fake. There is no Walmart store with that number.
The product numbers are fake 🚫
I looked up all the product numbers on the Walmart website. All are fake.
I started off with this coffee with code 078742005733. The 2026 receipt claimed that coffee cost $12.99. Unbelievable! Even by Starbucks standards, it's way too high.
Anyway, a quick lookup showed that the UPC code did not exist.
TL;DR
The above photo of Walmart 2002 and 2026 receipts from 2847 Palm Grove Road, Sunset Bay, FL 32987 is fake.
