What Battery Does the Honda Odyssey Key FOB Use?
Our Honda Odyssey 2014 key FOB uses CR 1616 3V Lithium coin cell. It may be a different shape or design for you.
Energizer CR 1616 coin lithium battery for Honda Odyssey key fob
For this key fob, I personally prefer Energizer or Duracell, in that order.
You can buy it from CVS, Walmart, Target, Batteries Plus or any general store.
What you need
You will need these:
- New coin battery CR 1616
- Small star screwdriver
- Small flat screwdriver
Purchase CR 1616 Coin Battery
I bought a set of CR 2025 Duracell coin batteries from CVS. Make sure that the expiry date is as far away as possible.
Unscrew the key fob using a small screwdriver
Get a small screwdriver that fits in the screw at the back of the key fob. If you don't have one, buy it from CVS or Target. Put the key down on a flat surface.
Open key fob using screwdriver
Then, unscrew it.
Pry open the keyfob with a flat screwdriver
Using a flat screwdriver, gently pry the inner compartment out as seen in this photo.
Pry the inner compartment open
Remove the compartment from the inside of the key fob.
Remove compartment from key fob
Remove the old CR 1616 coin battery
Using a small flat screwdriver, reverse the compartment, and gently pop out the existing CR 1616 coin battery.
Remove the old CR 1616 key fob battery from the back of the compartment
Put In the New CR 1616 Coin Battery
In the battery slot, put in the new CR1616 coin battery. Make sure you put the positive side of the battery in the + side. And then, this battery should fit in place. Once it is done, put back the cover of the key FOB. Screw it well.
Put the new CR 1616 key fob battery into the compartment
Test Your Key Fob With the New CR 1616 Battery
After you have put back the cover of the key FOB, test your key FOB by unlocking and locking your car door.
Why does my Honda Odyssey 2014 key fob look different?
Question: Why does my Honda Odyssey 2014 key fob look different?
A few Honda Odyssey key fobs have a different design, even if they are the same 2014 models.
Just find the existing coin cell being used. That is the important thing.
Why does my Honda Odyssey 2014 key fob use CR 2032 battery?
Question: Why does my Honda Odyssey 2014 key fob use CR 2032 battery?
I have no idea! A few Honda Odyssey 2014 models have different designs that use a CR2032 coin cell battery.
Conclusion
Changing your Honda Odyssey key fob battery should be a straightforward process with the right coin battery and two screwdrivers. My Honda Odyssey 2014 model had this key fob and CR 1616, but uf your key fob is a different design and/or takes a different design, usually CR 2032, go with that. The steps would most likely be the same.
